U.S. Navy Capt. Greg Harris, the commander of Carrier Air Wing 11, and Capt. Jeff Ruth, the commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), prepare to launch from the Nimitz flight deck in an F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft attached to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 154 June 18, 2012, in the Pacific Ocean. Harris completed his 1,000th carrier landing aboard Nimitz, which was under way to participate in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise.
