PHILIPPINE SEA (Feb. 4, 2020) Marines with Force Reconnaissance Platoon, Maritime Raid Force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, fast rope out of an MH-60 Seahawk helicopter with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25, onto the deck of the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) during a simulated Visit, Board, Search and Seizure mission. During the training, the blue-green team interdicted the target vessel with a helicopter assault by the Maritime Raid Force supported by Navy and Marine Corps aircraft. Germantown, part of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
