NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Jan. 27, 2020) Culinary Specialist Seaman Raegan Walker, top, a Sailor assigned to the general mess division of the supply department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington, practices basic first aid by applying a tourniquet on Hospitalman Joseph Vasquez, a Sailor assigned to George Washington’s medical department. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization.
