Schoolgirls wave American flags as the Marines of 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment pass them during a homecoming parade, in downtown San Clemente, June 14. Thousands of men, women and children lined the streets to thank and support the Marines. "I thought it was going to be easy," said Lt. Col. Bill Vivian, a native of Omaha, Nebraska and battalion commander of 2nd Bn., 4th Marines. "But it was emotional because everyone from older citizens to schoolchildren were out there waving the American flag and it was for us."
