A set of welding personal protective equipment hangs in the welding bay of Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School. The school house recently began their 20-2 semester. Several international students from Hungary and Tanzania are participating in the Technical Welding and Applied Repairs course.
TWAR is an eight-week course of instruction that provides personnel with the knowledge and skills required to safely make structural repairs and perform preventative maintenance to aluminum, steel, fiberglass and rubber components in accordance with applicable factory technical manuals and approved doctrine. Course topics include human rights, safety practices, Zodiac inflatable boat repair, fiberglass repair, and oxyacetylene cutting and welding, Shielded Metal Arc (electric) Welding and Gas Metal Arc (Mig) Welding.
NAVSCIATTS trains and educates foreign Special Operations Forces, SOF-like forces and SOF enablers across the tactical, operational and strategic spectrums through in-residence and Mobile Training Team Courses of Instruction; and serves as USSOCOM's premier Security Force Assistance training asset.
