Local workers use an excavator during a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) recovery operation to reach the incident layer containing the wreckage of a U.S. Army Air Corps B-25G, which crashed in Myanmar during WWII, Jan. 23, 2020. DPAA conducts world wide joint field activities with various foreign governments to recover the remains of missing Americans. Throughout these countries, field teams continue to investigate crash and burial sites, as well as interview locals to gain additional knowledge. DPAA’s mission is to provide the fullest possible accounting of our missing personnel to their families and the nation. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Seth Coulter)
