Sgt. Jonathan Sanders and Cpl. David Beck, both automotive maintenance technicians with 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, fold an American flag during a flag burning ceremony, June 14, at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C. Marines and community members came together to celebrate Flag Day by burning unserviceable American flags. The U.S. Flag Code dictates that “the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
