U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. John Cotter, a student with Basic Reconnaissance Course, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry - West, shoots an azimuth with a lensatic compass during a land navigation evaluation as part of the course’s individual skills phase on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Jan. 15, 2020. During the evaluation, students must remain 50 meters apart from each other and locate ten points on their own. BRC provides students with the basic knowledge of reconnaissance doctrine, concepts, and techniques with emphasis on amphibious entry and extraction, beach reconnaissance and reconnaissance patrolling skills.
