A Force Reconnaissance Marine with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Maritime Raid Force moves to secure a simulated vessel during Visit, Board, Search and Seizure training on Ford Island, Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Jan. 8, 2020. During VBSS training, the Marines hone their ship boarding and seizure capabilities to better perform maritime interdiction operations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
