200108-N-CE120-1002 OKINAWA, Japan (Jan. 8, 2020) Builder 1st Class Roland Palacios, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, uses a sledgehammer to break apart the remaining pieces of sidewalk adjacent to the seawall. U.S. Navy Seabees are replacing sidewalks and repairing a seawall on board Naval Base White Beach. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
