SAN ANTONIO – (Dec. 20, 2019) Machinist’s Mate (Auxiliary) 1st Class Shomari Cooper (left), of Killeen, Texas, assigned to Navy Recruiting Station (NRS) Hollywood Park, joined by Retail Services Specialist 2nd Class Mark Hambrick (center), of Phoenix, assigned to NRS De Zavala, and Navy Counselor 1st Class Harold Dayse, of Beaumont, Texas, assigned to NRS New Braunfels, participated in the 41st Annual Claude W. Black Community Center Gift Giveaway held at the community center. The event’s purpose was to provide children of low-income families with toys and joy during the Christmas Holiday. The recruiters were able to speak with more than 275 families regarding the Navy and its career programs. The Navy's Community Relations (COMREL) Program fosters community service, creates and sustains partnerships with the public, and increases public awareness and understanding of America's Navy. Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes more than 34 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory.
