191216-N-PG340-2061 OKINAWA, Japan (Dec. 16, 2019) Construction Electrician 2nd Class Carmen Lambaren, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, sets up air conditioning in one of the communication tents during a joint Communication Exercise (COMMEX) and 48-hour Mount-Out Exercise (MOX) on board Camp Shields, Okinawa. Combining COMMEX and MOX demonstrates the battalion’s ability to rapidly deploy and operate in a tactical environment. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
