Female Peshmerga soldiers approach an objective under the cover of smoke during their final exercise, the culminating event that tests skills learned over seven weeks of training, at Sulaymaniyah Training Center in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Dec. 17, 2019. Forty five female Peshmerga soldiers participated in the final exercise and will go on to graduate to become medics, snipers, counter improvised explosive device specialists or infantry members. Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve and our Iraqi Partners are developing sustainable and inclusive Iraqi military forces that can secure their sovereign borders, protect the population, and support a return to normalcy across the country and ensure the lasting defeat of Daesh.
