U.S. Marines with Marine Rotational Force-Europe 20.1, Marine Forces Europe and Africa, and Norwegian Army soldiers with Home Guard 12, pose for a group photo after moving through mountainous terrain on skis as a part of a cold-weather training exercise in Haltdalen, Norway, Dec. 6-10, 2019. Marines experienced harsh snowfall and wind conditions while covering upward of 40 kilometers over four days to complete the exercise. Norwegian Army soldiers with Home Guard 12 instructed Marines throughout the exercise, sharing techniques and building comradery with them. MRF-E focuses on regional engagements throughout Europe by conducting various exercises, arctic cold-weather and mountain-warfare training, and military-to-military engagements, which enhance overall interoperability of the U.S. Marine Corps with allies and partners.
