Paratroopers assigned to 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, assemble on Sicily Drop Zone as part of a Joint Operational Access Demonstration, June 4. Just before nightfall, heavy equipment and vehicles parachuted onto the drop zone, closely followed by hundreds of 2nd BCT paratroopers. Once on the ground, the troopers quickly assembled and secured the airfield in order to allow additional troops and equipment to safely land on the field landing for future missions. Distinguished visitors from Washington D.C. and the Fayetteville, N.C., area were in attendance for the exercise to observe the paratroopers' high level of expertise and to gain an understanding of their ability to quickly deploy anywhere in the world for any mission on short notice.
