In this image released by Joint Task Force 71, Army Col. Rick Noriega, commander for the 71st Theater Information Group, presents gifts to German army Maj. Sven Thannhauser for sponsoring the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency competition at Camp Swift in Bastrop, Texas. The event, which features pistol marksmanship, track and field, swimming and a ruck march, offers soldiers the opportunity to earn a foreign military badge, wearable on their dress uniform. The badge is open to all allied forces on behalf of the German army and features three levels of achievement: gold, silver and bronze, based on the individual's performance.
