JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Washington- Lt. Col. (Ret.) Hank Cramer, former Soldier with 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), thanks Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel Orosco, command sergeant major of 1st SFG (A), after receiving the Brotherhood Certificate on behalf of his father, Cpt. Harry Griffin Cramer Jr., during the Menton Week Opening Ceremony at Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Wash., Dec. 9. Cpt. Cramer was the first Special Forces Soldier to lose his life in Vietnam on Oct. 21, 1957.
Menton Week is the annual commemoration of the First Special Service Force's deactivation and honors the ongoing legacy of 1st SFG (A) and the Canadian Special Operations Regiment as premier special operation professionals and partners. Throughout Menton week Soldiers of 1st SFG (A) and their partners and allies from various countries participate in rigorous competition to showcase their skills on the battlefield. These events include swimming, running, land navigation, marksmanship and an Army combatives tournament.
