SAN DIEGO (Dec. 2, 2019) Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Dallas Evernden, an orthopedic technician assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), applies a controlled ankle motion boot to Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Travis Jones at the hospital, Dec. 2. The orthopedics department is responsible for applying casts, splints, and braces to patients with injured joints and bones. NMCSD’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high-quality healthcare services, and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
