An accordion and its case, both lost during World War II, sit on a table alongside a photo of Private 1st Class Andrew Kindsvater, 60th Infantry Regiment, who fought on the Western Front and participated in the American advance to the Rhine, when he found the small accordion. US Lieutenant General Scott A. Kindsvater inherited the accordion from his grandfather, Andrew. General Kindsvater returned the case to Mrs. Christel Nierhoff, the younger sister of the accordion’s original owner, November 28, 2019. Noted on the case is a small hole on the lid's right; while the grandfather carried the case through the war a bullet pierced it, also wounding the grandfather who survived to bring both the case and his stories home.
