191109-N-TP832-1317 FORT HUNTER LIGGETT, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2019) Cmdr. Jonathan Nieman, commanding officer of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3, and Lt. Cmdr. Calvin Warren, NMCB-3’s air detachment commander, climb a hill to a firing pit during NMCB-3’s field training exercise (FTX) at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif. The battalion is conducting Operation Bearing Duel FTX that prepares and tests the battalion’s ability to enter a hostile location, build assigned construction projects and defend against enemy attacks using realistic scenarios while being evaluated by Naval Construction Group 1.
