Michael Bilder wrote A Footsoldier for Patton with his son, Jim Bilder, which tells Michael Bilder's World War II experience in the 5th Infantry Division supporting Patton's Third Army. The book is displayed at the Illinois State Military Museum's gift shop during the Illinois State Military Museum's Great War Encampment on Nov. 9, 2019 at the museum in Springfield, Illinois. Jim Bilder also tells the story of his grandfather, Len Fairfield, and his experience in World War I in his book Artillery Scout. Jim was a featured presenter during the encampment. The encampment tells the story of the Illinois National Guard in World War I. The museum tells the history and proud legacy of the Illinois National Guard. With just two full-time employees, the museum relies on a full cadre of volunteers to operate daily and present more than a dozen events each year to thousands of visitors. (U.S. Army photo by Lt.
