Seaweed wraps around the guard posts on Bird Island Pier located in Buffalo, NY, after high waves toppled over the pier during the October 31 storm. The Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, and the Buffalo Department of Public Works inspected the pier November 6 to get an assessment of the amount of damage the storm caused to the structure. The storm on Halloween created 10-20 foot waves, which caused a portion of the pier to be pushed off its foundation and into the Black Rock Canal.
