JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Oct. 17, 2019) – Gwendolyn Beecham, a medical assistant at Naval Branch Health Clinic Jacksonville, weighs a sailor as part of his routine health visit. Oct. 21 - 25 is Medical Assistants Recognition Week. Beecham, a native of Ocilla, Georgia, says, “As a six-year-old child, I loved sitting in the waiting room at Martin Army Hospital waiting on my dad to come out of his office. I was fascinated watching the medical staff. I knew from that moment, I would work in the medical field. Over the past 6 years, I’ve enjoyed working in Deployment Health. It's very rewarding to know that I can help service members prepare for their mission.” (U.S. Navy photo by Jacob Sippel, Naval Hospital Jacksonville/Released).
