Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic held the annual Retiree Summit and Career Fair at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story today. The annual event brings together a full range of guest speakers, vendors, medical representatives and prospective employers to one location to give transitioning service members, military retirees, family members and surviving spouses the most up to date information on pay, benefits and legislative initiatives. Speakers included Mr. Raymond Applewhite of the Secreatary of the Navy’s Retiree Council, representatives from Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) and TRICARE. In addition, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth staff provided a health and information fair. A job and educational fair included more than 50 employers, colleges and universities to discuss future careers.
