Gordon, Indiana National Guard state command sergeant major, passes the colors of the Indiana National Guard to the honorable Eric Holcomb, 51st Governor of the state of Indiana, during an assumption of command ceremony for Brig. Gen. R. Dale Lyles at the Indiana War Memorial, here, Nov. 3, 2019. The passing of the guidon signifies the transferring of responsibility; Holcomb would then pass the guidon to Lyles symbolizing the instilling of trust and responsibility in this duty.
