    U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Rudy Deleon hammers the base plate of the Mark 142 D into the ground at Jungle Warfare Training Center, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 29, 2019. During their communication exercise, Marines of 7th Communication Battalion employed various communication systems in JWTC, including the data and voice transmitter Mark 142 D. Deleon, a native of San Antonio, Tx., is a radio operator with Alpha Company, 7th Comm. Bn. Part of the training focused on the unit’s ability to deploy small fire teams in support of long-range rapid deployments where the Marine Corps will need to establish austere bases.
