Terry Yonkers, assistant secretary of the Air Force for installations, environment and logistics, and Katherine Hammack, assistant secretary of the Army for installations, energy and environment, visited Joint Base San Antonio May 21-22 to tour installations on Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis, and discuss world-wide and future energy and environmental initiatives of their respective services. Their tour included the construction site where the Hacienda used to stand, and where the new student union and an academic support facility with a large assembly room, will be built. Michael Grizer (right), a civil engineer with Fort Sam Houston, explains what the new buildings will look like and the energy savings expected when the buildings are finished. Yonkers and Hammack came to JBSA to examine and discuss the energy-saving construction initiatives for their respective services. Yonkers was instrumental in securing funding for the new buildings. Air Force Brig. Gen. Theresa Carter, 502nd Air Base Wing commander accompanied the assistant secretaries on their tour of facilities.
