Coast Guard medevacs injured hunter from Kodiak Island, Alaska
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew medically evacuated an injured hunter from Kodiak Island, Alaska, Oct. 25, 2019. The aircrew rescued the man from a beach near the head of Deadman Bay and safely transported him to awaiting EMS at Air Station Kodiak. The hunter reportedly developed an infection and possibly Sepsis after sustaining an injury Oct. 16. Watchstanders at the Sector Anchorage Command Center received a relayed emergency message from a satellite communication device and directed the launch of the Jayhawk aircrew.
