Firefighters with the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron sharpened their skills during a training exercise which simulated a cockpit fire aboard a KC-135 Stratotanker at RAF Mildenhall, England. The firefighters had to search for “unaccounted personnel” in and around the aircraft during the simulated fire. Four vehicles from the fire department and about 15 firefighters were involved in the exercise. Hands-on training is performed quarterly by the fire department to help keep firefighters familiar with the interior layout of the aircraft and proper shut-down procedures.
