NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Oct. 17, 2019) Chief Aviation Machinist’s Mate Carlos Edwards, from New York, assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) aircraft intermediate maintenance department, returns the salutes of Ford's Chiefs Mess as he is piped ashore. Ford is currently undergoing its post-shakedown availability at Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding.
