Rear Adm. Eric Jones, Coast Guard 7th District commander, met with responders of the overturned 656-foot vehicle carrier Golden Ray in St. Simons Sound, Georgia, Oct. 18, 2019. During his visit, Jones was briefed by the unified command of efforts to protect wildlife and the environment, limit economic impacts, and the plans being developed for the eventual safe removal of the vessel.
