U.S. Navy Hospitalman Third Class Norberto Cruz-Montaz with Third Battalion, Eighth Marine Regiment, Second Marine Division (2d MARDIV) checks the heartrate of a simulated casualty during a live whole-blood transfusion practical application at Camp Wilson, Marine Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California, Oct. 16, 2019. The goal of the training was to elevate the standards of skill and competency among all three Marine Expeditionary Forces. The hospitalmen will implement whole-blood transfusions on simulated causalities during MAGTF Warfighting Exercise (MWX) 1-20, scheduled to take place from mid-October through early November.
