Philippine Marine Staff Sgt. Jungie Torres discards a 105mm Howitzer cartridge during a bilateral artillery range event as part of KAMANDAG 3 at Colonel Ernesto P. Ravina Air Base, Philippines, Oct. 15, 2019. The U.S. is proud to participate in this Philippine-led, bilateral exercise in order to develop capabilities across a wide range of military operations. Torres, a native of Oriental, Philippines, is an assistant gunner with 17th Marine Company, Field Artillery Battalion. KAMANDAG is an acronym for the Filipino phrase “Kaagapay Ng Mga Mandirigma Ng Dagat,” which translates to “Cooperation of the Warriors of the Sea,” highlighting the partnership between the U.S. and Philippine militaries.
