LAE, Papua New Guinea -- U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Juliet Calvin, regional plans officer with I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF) Command Element, hands out Marine Corps stickers to local school girls at the Salvation Army School during Exercise Koa Moana 19 in Lae, Papua New Guinea, Sept. 30, 2019. Calvin attended Koa Moana to conduct a key leadership exchange with senior leaders of the Papua New Guinea Defense Force and also spoke with women at the nearby Jim Jacobsen Women’s Center for victims of domestic violence or human trafficking. Marines and sailors distributed supplies such as toiletries, toys and knitting material at the center. Koa Moana serves as a joint training exercise between I MEF and the Papua New Guinea Defense Force to improve relationships and interoperability within the Indo-Pacific Region.
