General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., the 19th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, retires from the Marine Corps, Oct. 11, after 42 years of service, during a private ceremony in the USS Constitution Museum, Charlestown Navy Yard, Mass. General Dunford’s younger brother, Marine Corps Lt. Col. Mike Dunford (retired) was the retiring officer during the ceremony. Dunford, a Boston native, who was also the 36th Commandant of the Marine Corps, was succeeded by 20th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen.
