James Elrod, the logistics officer for Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14, crosses the finish line in first place at the Breast Cancer Awareness 5K hosted by Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point (NHCCP) at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Oct. 11, 2019. October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in an effort to increase awareness and raise funds for research against the disease. The pink ribbon made its first appearance in the first Komen Race for the Cure event in 1982 and has since been adopted as the national breast cancer awareness symbol.
