Marines with Mike Battery, 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, swab and reload a M-777 A2 Howitzer as part of a five-round, regimental shoot during Desert Fire Exercise 2012 here, May 9. After each fired round, the Marines swabbed the chamber to cool any remaining embers that could prematurely spark the powder from the subsequent round. During the 11-day exercise, the regiment developed and sustained their ability to plan and execute artillery fires in support of maneuver, fire support coordination and counter fires within an offensive scenario.
