A M-777 A2 Howitzer operated by the Marines of Mike Battery, 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, fires during Desert Fire Exercise 2012 here, May 9. During the 11-day exercise, the regiment developed and sustained their ability to plan and execute artillery fires in support of maneuver, fire support coordination and counter fires within an offensive scenario. Throughout the FIREX, the regiment fired more than 4,000 artillery rounds and rockets in support of 1st Marine Division ground forces.
