Fuses are emplaced on artillery rounds in preparation for a firing mission during Desert Fire Exercise 2012 here, May 9. With every firing mission, the Marines on the gun line are give the type of round and corresponding fuse by the fire direction control center to ensure that their rounds have the desired effect. During the 11-day exercise, 11th Marine Regiment developed and sustained their ability to plan and execute artillery fires in support of maneuver, fire support coordination and counter fires within an offensive scenario.
