The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District and the New York State Department of Transportation celebrated the start of construction at the Athol Springs Shoreline Protection and Storm Reduction project site Sept. 25 along Route 5 in Hamburg, NY.
There to help celebrate the much anticipated ground breaking was State Senator Chris Jacobs; Mark Poloncarz, the Erie County Executive; James Shaw, the supervisor for the Town of Hamburg, NY; and Alexandra Gould, a representative on behalf of Rep. Chris Collins.
The ground breaking ceremony would not have been possible without the partnership between the Corps and the DOT, and the continued support from the local and state officials.
