San Jose, Calif. resident Spc. Bryan Hamlin, right, is awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge by Brig. Gen. Kevin Leonard at Camp Virginia, Kuwait Sept. 6. Hamlin, assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment, was awarded the CIB for his actions on July 2. While stopped to investigate a possible improvised explosive device (IED) near Forward Operating Base Scania in Iraq, Hamlin's gun truck came under small arms fire from an unknown number of personnel. Hamlin returned fire and was able to repulse any further attacks by the forces.
