This Far Ultraviolet camera/spectrograph is a model of the Apollo 16 mission camera. Dr. George Carruthers patented and developed the camera based on instruments flown on sounding rockets and satellites. It is the first Moon-based “astronomical” observatory. The observatory is still on the Moon today, but is no longer operational.
