Lt. Gen. William N. Phillips, the military deputy/director, Army Acquisition Corps of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), departs the 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, brigade tactical command post after receiving briefings and updates of the Network Integration Evaluation 12.2’s progress from 2nd HBCT soldiers. The NIE, conducted at Fort Bliss, Texas, and White Sands Missile Range, N.M., assess potential network capabilities in a robust operational environment to determine whether they perform as needed, conform to the network architecture and are interoperable with existing systems.
