Museum Educator, AJ Orlikoff with the Hampton Roads Naval Museum staffs booth to provide some hands on STEM concepts in conjunction with staff members with the Naval History and Heritage Command during STEM Day at the 2019 NAS Oceana Air Show. According to a news release from NAS Oceana approximately 8,000 students, teachers and chaperones from the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and other area public schools converged on the practice day on Friday, September 20, 2019. This was to participate in what event organizers planned as the largest Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) field trip on record and in pursuit of a Guiness Book World Record.
