Students from area public schools visit a booth staffed by Museum Educators with the Hampton Roads Naval Museum and Naval History and Heritage Command during the NAS Oceana 2019 Air Show’s Annual STEM Day. According to a news release from NAS Oceana approximately 8,000 students, teachers and chaperones from the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and other area public schools converged on the practice day on Friday, September 20, 2019. This was to participate in what event organizers planned as the largest Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) field trip on record and in pursuit of a Guiness Book World Record.
