FORT BLISS, Texas – A team of Soldiers prepare to raise the Colors during the playing of Reveille outside the 1st Armored Division headquarters building Sept. 20. The raising of the colors on this day is also part of a division commemoration for Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Recognition Day, which is celebrated the third Friday of September, to remember and honor service members who were prisoners of war or are still considered missing in action. Out of the more than 81,000 missing, 75% of the losses are located in the Indo-Pacific, and more than 41,000 of the missing are presumed lost at sea (i.e. ship losses, known aircraft water losses, etc.).
