ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 16, 2019) Operations Specialist Seaman Joseph Contreras, from, Alice, Texas, right, and Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Andy Gonzalez, from Providence, Rhode Island, man a .50 caliber machine gun aboard the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) during a Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) exercise with other U.S. Navy warships. Surface Warships assigned to the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group are participating in the exercise in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Florida, to maintain readiness, proficiency and lethality.
