U.S. sailors assigned to the guided missile frigate USS Underwood (FFG 36) man the sea and anchor detail as Underwood gets under way, April 23, 2012, in Mayport, Fla., for a composite training unit exercise. Upon completion of the exercise, Underwood was to deploy to Central and South America and the Caribbean in support of Southern Seas 2012. Southern Seas is a U.S. Southern Command-directed operation designed to strengthen relationships with regional partner nations and improve operational readiness for all assigned units.
