30th Civil Engineer Squadron wildland firefighters, known as Hotshots, tighten the straps of their chaps before clearing brush Aug. 30, 2019, at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. Wearing these chaps is one of the many precautions the Hotshots take before operating in the field. Due to their composition, if a chainsaw were to come in contact with them the chainsaw would clog, ultimately keeping the member safe. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Clayton Wear)
