Terrence O'Shaughnessy, Commander, U.S. Northern Command, U.S. Embassy in Nassau Chargé d'Affaires Stephanie Bowers and U.S. Coast Guard 7th District, Rear Adm. Eric Jonesdiscuss the Hurricane Dorian response efforts in The Bahamas. Gen. O'Shaughnessy emphasized the Department of Defense's support of USAID and the Department of State in the relief efforts. In support of foreign disaster relief efforts, the Secretary of Defense authorized USNORTHCOM to provide transportation logistics for the movement of USAID and third party humanitarian commodities and personnel throughout the region and to conduct assessments of critical transportation nodes to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance and maximize the flow of disaster relief into the area.
